Poponder is built with privacy as a first principle. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Information we collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
- Apple User Identifier — an opaque, app-scoped identifier provided by Apple when you sign in with Sign in with Apple. It is not your email address, name, or Apple ID.
- Username and country code — the display name and optional country you choose during profile setup. Your username is visible on public leaderboards.
- Profile avatar — an optional photo you upload. Avatars are reviewed before appearing on public leaderboards.
- Game answers — the positions you evaluated, your score, and the time you used. This data powers your personal stats and the global rankings.
- Technical data — basic technical data is automatically collected by our advertising provider, Google AdMob, while serving ads (see Section 4).
We do not collect: your phone number, contacts, precise location, call history, or any other personal information.
2. How we use your information
Your data is used solely to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your account.
- Track your game progress, calculate your score, and display your position on the leaderboards.
- Show your avatar and country on public rankings (if you have provided them and your avatar has been verified).
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.
3. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers located in France (European Union) operated by OVH SAS. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. We apply standard security practices to protect stored data.
4. Third-party services
We use the following services:
- Sign in with Apple — for authentication. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob — Poponder shows a banner ad to support the free app, served through Google AdMob. Ads are configured as non-personalized (npa=1), so no App Tracking Transparency permission is requested and your activity is not used to build an advertising profile. As part of serving any ad — including non-personalized ones — Google's SDK may still process basic technical data (such as IP address and device identifiers) to deliver the ad and prevent fraud. This data is processed by Google as an independent controller under its own policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- SKAdNetwork — Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution framework, used by AdMob to measure ad performance without identifying you individually.
We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs beyond Apple's built-in advertising attribution.
5. Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Your game history, username, avatar, and all personal data are permanently removed from our servers.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
